When we were ready to add a 2nd Spinone to our pack, we were looking for a high quality brown bitch puppy who could be the foundation of a breeding program. And then our friend Val Smith bred Emily Rose (now Sh Ch Javal Virginia Plain, JW), whom we loved, for the first time. We knew all the pups would be orange roans, but this was an opportunity we couldn't pass up, so we reserved a male with the thought that we would still get our brown bitch in the future. I was fortunate to be able to fly to Scotland and spend time with Val and her family and the litter before coming back home with the sweetest pup you could ever hope to meet. We called him Piper in honor of his Scottish beginnings.
I knew from the start that Piper was a special dog. His temperament is so solid and laid back that I trust him completely. He is perennially happy and clearly wants to please. He becomes very excited around other Spinoni, since he doesn't often get to see them. We are very lucky to have been hosted several times by Sue McGregor when she throws her annual Spinone party and invites hoards of Spinone to romp in her huge backyard. Piper runs happily with the mob and is particularly fond of the girls.
Piper's full name is CH Javal Tangerine Man. He was bred by Val Smith in Scotland, out of SH CH Javal Virginia Plain, JW (Emily Rose), by SH CH Adinas Mandriano at Valabeau (Bailey).
